Young participants will learn about circuits / sensors and basic painting techniques while creating an interactive LED artwork representing a galaxy of lights.

In the first part of the workshop, we will go over basic circuitry and electrical principles and practice building circuits with Chibitronics kits. Participants will also explore painting techniques to create nebular effects on black paper. The second half will consist of producing the constellation mixed media installation.

The collaborative painting of a galaxy with “constellations” of hand-made circuits, each programmed with patterns of blinking or scrolling will express the imaginations of young artist-engineers.

This is the first installation of the award-winning 5-part FAB Kids Workshop, which received 1st place in Chevron and Fab Foundation STEM Education Award.
