Fab Lab, a NASA Community Anchor Site, is hosting an Artemis I pre-launch event in partnership with American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics called Students To Launch (S2L) for students in middle school (Grades 6-8). S2L is an AIAA-led STEM education initiative designed to spark a passion for space exploration in students by engaging them in NASA launches, and in some cases providing them with the opportunity to experience a launch firsthand. Through exposure to the magnitude and diversity of space industry roles, students will begin to see themselves filling the ranks of skilled space workers, playing a part in something they may never have dreamed possible.

Students from across the country will have the opportunity to attend a launch in person at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida!

The Opportunity:

• A half-day interactive, hands-on event where students will learn about the diverse careers available in the space industry and the challenges of living and working in space.

• Their curiosity and interest will be stimulated by engaging with a giant Moon map showing the landing sites for the Artemis missions to the Moon, learning about launching a rocket, designing their own postcard which will fly to space on a Blue Origin mission, and hearing from a special VIP speaker.

• The children are encouraged to become “Space Ambassadors” sharing the excitement of the event with schoolmates, friends, family, and the community at large.

Artemis is NASA’s mission to return to the Moon and land the first woman and person of color as we continue to explore space. Learn more about Artemis: https://www.nasa.gov/specials/artemis/
